Joey Gilmore

Joey Gilmore is an electric blues guitarist and singer from Ocala. He developed an interest in music at a young age when he would visit a barbershop to watch the barber play guitar. He learned from watching and over the years became a master guitar player in his own right. In the 1960s Gilmore gained popularity in South Florida accompanying touring musicians, and he joined some of them on the road. Over the years he has performed with stars such as James Brown, Etta James, Bobby Bland, Little Milton, Johnny Taylor and numerous others.

He has released numerous albums over the years, and in 2006 Gilmore's group won Best Band in the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in Memphis. He has appeared in jazz and blues festivals in Florida, throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
