Xperimento is a bilingual, multicultural Latin band from Miami, Florida. Originally created as a side project for the band Locos por Juana, Xperimento burst onto Miami’s music scene in 2009. Members of the group all have extensive performance backgrounds with several Grammy nominations between them. The project was founded by Emiliano “CheFunk” Torres (trumpet) and Camilo “Tumbao” Sierra (lead vocals). Members have backgrounds from across Latin America, including Puerto Rico, Argentina, Colombia and Venezuela.

Xperimento calls their genre “Latin reggae urban soul.” Their music is experimental in nature, as the name suggests, and they work towards combining existing styles in new and innovative ways. Their influences draw from reggae, salsa, merengue, cumbia, ska, hip-hop, rock, R&B, funk and more. Early in the band’s tenure, Jazid (a popular nightclub in Miami Beach that closed in 2017) served as their laboratory for creating these innovative blends.

Members of Xperimento have recorded and played with world-famous artists, including Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias. Prince even asked to get on stage with them in concert and played two songs with the band! They have also performed for U.S. troops around the world. In 2011, the group was voted “Best Fusion Band” for the Best of Miami Awards by Miami New Times Magazine. Most recently, Xperimento performed for Super Bowl LIV (2020) on the Tailgate Stage at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, and are currently working on a full-length studio album.
